Something New at Alice & Wonderland and A Virtual Visit

If you are a local Baldwin County, Alabama resident, you probably already know about the treasures that can be found at Alice & Wonderland in Loxley.

For those of you who are not local, plan a trip to the Gulf Coast and give yourself an hour or so (or more!)  to stop in and browse around.  It will be an experience that lives up to the name- it is a wonderland of fun vintage and antique finds.  And now, there's something new. My friend, Ellen, the owner, has opened a new "handmade" arts and crafts section upstairs, and it's beginning to fill up with some nice things!

Ellen shows me the new "handmade"
section.
Come along with me on a quick little tour- First, I'll share the new section with some of the arts and crafts.

Here is a more detailed look at the egret painting on rustic wood that Ellen was showing me above.

...and, here are some more whimsical beach or nautical themed pieces...

Justin was intrigued with the carved duck.  It is a fabulous, BIG piece!

That's just a taste of what promises to be something special at Alice & Wonderland.  Ellen is now taking consignments so that she can offer more great pieces, so if you happen to be a local artist or crafter with a gift for creating fantastic things, contact her.  (Contact info will follow at the end of the post.)

Now, I want to share with you some other things that I found interesting during my visit yesterday.

For the collector of children's things...

This is the place for silver flatware!  It made such a pretty picture all tied up in purple ribbons!

Before computers and all of the conveniences of today...

All kinds of glass, porcelain, china and pottery can be found...

This chippy piece is the real deal...no faux chipping here.

Bling!

A great baby carriage from days gone by...

...and, Justin was convinced that he had found a pirate's treasure chest!

This booth had a great variety of farm implements, industrial feeling things, and cast iron.

These pieces would look great on a porch or in a sun room.

...and, I captured a shot of a guest in this pretty mirror!

This mirror was down by the door, and it was my last shot as I headed out.

I just realized that I didn't take pics of furniture and larger pieces...They do have that, too!  There is a WONDERFUL Eastlake bed upstairs, fit for a queen!  Can't believe I didn't take a pic of that one...oh well, I guess you'll just have to drop by to see it in person.

I hope you enjoyed your virtual tour through Alice & Wonderland in Loxley, Alabama.  Ellen would love to have you drop by, and when you do, tell her Judy sent you!
