Words of late artist Frank Howell...I totally relate!

"There are few days off and no retirement from this entanglement of knowledge, passion and vision that will be molded and converted into creative expression. There are no guarantees of acceptance, understanding or reward, but...the noise inside the mind never ceases. I will paint today, tonight and for as many tomorrows as I am given..." Down in the Delta Update

Hi friends!  I've been working myself silly Down in the Delta, getting ready for the first ever vintage and antiques market!  It has grown into so much more than just a simple vintage and antiques market...I decided to add extra elements to the affair to make it more interesting--like "Made in Alabama" specialty products, a traveling fashion boutique for the ladies and teen girls, the vintage and antique car show, and the tours of the delta.  If you haven't already heard about the details, I would love for you to follow this link to the website and see what's been keeping me so busy! http://www.downinthedelta.net/

I'm also going to take this opportunity to ask you to follow the blog over there, http://downinthedeltavintageandantiques.blogspot.com/.  If you follow me here, you will want to follow there, because eventually, I will only have time to write one blog, and I don't want to lose any of you in the transition....you've become friends!

I hope you will be able to make it "Down in the Delta" to enjoy the market with me--and all of the other fabulous people that are coming together to make this happen.  If you need information that you don't see on the website, please contact me -- judypimperl@yahoo.com.

The next time I post on here, it will be sharing pics of the market!  Time to start praying for good weather on April 1 & 2!

A Fun Game

Hi friends!  I've been spending a lot of time over at the other blog (www.downinthedelta.blogspot.com) building that business, but I'm not completely gone from here...I miss spending time with you.  Once the market rolls around (April 1 & 2) I will be back sharing more here.

I did want to share a fun giveaway that's going on on my Down in the Delta Facebook page. Even if you don't want the tickets, it would be fun to participate, but just know that if you do leave a comment, you will be in the drawing for a free couple of tickets to the market.

I put up a photograph from my personal collection-it's an interesting one-you just need to see it. A "progressive story" is being written by my readers with each one leaving the next line to the story.  It's a lot of fun to see where it goes!  I will be drawing a winner from the contributors on Sunday, and at that point, I'll share the real story that goes with the picture. If this sounds like fun to you, jump on over there and play along!  This is the link to the page: https://www.facebook.com/downinthedeltavintageandantiquesmarket/  Once you click over to the page, look for the post with this picture:

If you are planning to be in the South Alabama area on April 1 & 2, I would love for you to visit me at the market!  More info at www.downinthedelta.net.

Are You a Dealer of Antiques or Vintage Items?

Are you a dealer...or have you always thought about becoming a dealer of vintage and antiques treasures?  Do you have a house filled with treasures that you no longer need or want?  If you answered yes to any of the above, we need to talk!

The first thing you need to know is this:  April 1 & 2.  Those of the dates of Down in the Delta--A Vintage & Antiques Market.  Set-up is Thursday, March 31.  So, before you do anything else, mark your calendar!

I can help you learn how to set up a simple business (in the state of Alabama) to get going if you've always wondered about what all is involved.  Just comment here and if I get enough comments to talk more about it, I'll do a post on setting up the business.

If you are already a vendor, I would appreciate it if you would jump over to my website and check it out.  Be sure to read the news page, the blog, and the gallery-then click on the "Applications" tab at the top to see details on becoming a vendor.  After exploring the site a little, let me know if you would like to participate.  Be aware of the fact that it is a juried show, so no flea-market style, just thrown out onto a table kind of thing will be happening at this event.  Each item will need to be placed in a styled way that's pleasing to the eye.  I can help you with this part if needed.

We should have lots of traffic heading down I-65 because it's one of the Spring Break weekends.  It is very easy access off I-65 at exit 31, and just a tad bit over 1/2 mile once you get onto Hwy 225. That weekend, there will also be another couple of sales going on within a mile of my market, so there will be a full day of fun for shoppers.

Feel free to grab this pic, save it and share it to your social media.  I would appreciate that very much.

And, for first looks at what Down in the Delta is sharing, you can follow on Facebook and Instagram.

Making Goodies for the Market

I've been working on some pretties for the market with Mother's Day in mind--floral arrangements in vintage vessels.  I've used odd pieces that I've picked up here and there. Some silver plated bowls, cups, little teacups, and anything else that looks like it wants to hold flowers...

Just in case you don't yet know what "the market" is, it's my event that will happen in South Alabama on April 1 & 2, Down in the Delta--A Vintage & Antiques Market.  I would love to have you come on down to the delta and attend the fabulous event that will take place at the beginning of spring on the banks of the Mobile-Tensaw River at Live Oak Landing.   You can purchase tickets from the website I'm still taking vendor applications too, so if you are a dealer of high quality vintage/vintage inspired/antiques/up-cycled goods, feel free to jump over to the website and send me an application. Website is:  www.downinthedelta.net.

Thanks for dropping by!

Down in the Delta Hits the Road--The Lucky Rabbit

It's Wednesday, January 13th and I can't believe how fast this year has already started flying by! January is half gone...It probably has something to do with the fact that getting this business up and going is keeping me so busy that I don't have time to look at the calendar! I just notice now and again that a few more days are gone.  I have literally been running around like a crazy person.  There is so much work that goes into building a business, and you can only understand it if you've done it--I will say, though, that I'm enjoying every minute of it.  And that could be because I get to go to really fun places to advertise the market, meet potential vendors and shoppers, and shop for fun finds to resale!

Last Thursday I ran over to Laurel and Hattiesburg in neighboring Mississippi.  There's this wonderland called The Lucky Rabbit that I had been hearing about and figured it was a place I needed to check out.  I had marked it on my calendar--January 7, The Lucky Rabbit, 9-6.  They are only open one long weekend a month, so you can imagine the line that forms outside.  I planned to leave early to get a spot in the front of the line.

I got up around 4:00 am and headed out while it was still dark. The route over is a very boring and notoriously dangerous two-lane road, and it was hard to hold my eyes open at times.  I really don't enjoy driving by myself...it's always more fun with a companion in the car, but on this trip, it was just me. I actually contemplated pulling into the Dollar General parking lot and taking a little nap because the caffeine just wasn't helping much....but, then I thought about ending up in a place in the back of the line and that just couldn't be, so I kept driving. I'm a diehard early bird shopper at these events. Some of my friends think I'm crazy, and I will admit that it is a bit of an obsession.  A little voice in my head is always whispering, "The early bird gets the worm."  So...I found myself there, on the sidewalk waiting in the wind in freezing temps with two other friendly early birds....at 8:00.

In my place at the front of the line...
...looking through the glass door.

We watched with anticipation through the glass doors as the ladies buzzed around getting things ready to open.  The first 25 through the doors got a certificate for a free Lucky Rabbit logo t-shirt. It's a cute shirt, so that was nice.  See?  The early bird did get a worm!  And, I got the first look at the treasures as soon as the doors opened.

I did grab several of those treasures that will be up for grabs at Down in the Delta--A Vintage & Antiques Market, and I met some wonderful new friends.  I will go ahead and put The Lucky Rabbit on the calendar for next month.

One more rabbit picture, just because it's so cute!

For first looks at my adventures, follow me on Instagram where I share events as they happen.  I am also on facebook where I have been giving away some goodies.  There's actually a giveaway going on now with a drawing for two free Early Bird Tickets (a $56 value that includes breakfast!) to the market.  You have to like, share, and comment to get in on that fun!  Drawing will be January 18, so hurry!  Look for the facebook post on January 4th that begins with, "How about a giveaway?" Follow the link above.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll come back often.  I enjoy having you here!
