A Closer Look--Silver Plated Smashed Spoon Necklaces

I shared a quick look at a couple of these silver plated spoon necklaces a few days ago in a Fab Fashion Friday post.  I have finally finished the series, which consisted of six spoons I bought at an estate sale, and they will be going into the shop on Wednesday.

I wish I could find more of these old soup spoons, but they are just rare.  Silver plated teaspoons are plentiful, but the end result is more of an oval shape, and I'm going for something closer to round for my necklaces.  As soon as I find more spoons, there will be more necklaces...

For this simple but grungy look, I've mixed a variety of metals with the silver plated spoons. Giving the pieces a professional and finished look is a copper eyelet through which I've threaded a long strand of black polished leather string (29") that is hand-tied at the nape of the neck.   A bronze colored bead completes the look.  The finished piece slips easily over the head creating a casual jewelry statement.

Thanks for checking in today!  I appreciate each and every reader and as always, I hope you've seen something that made you smile or inspired you in some way.  I hope you'll come back again soon.

Just wanted to add an update...I returned from Birmingham late yesterday...I'm afraid the trip to Juju Queen's Junk in Mobile will have to wait until tomorrow...I am tired.  The necklaces will be available then, shortly after noon.  Also, please note, ENJOY THE JOURNEY has sold.

  1. I bought a big bag of silverplate hoping there would be a soup spoon in the bunch, but there wasn't. I'm still looking! I have something I want you to put on a spoon for me.
